Teggies Improv Community Group

Teggies Improv Community Group is not-for-profit and runs free improv classes for mothers and babies (~6 – 36 months) in spring and autumn. Where mothers can’t make it, we are happy to welcome fathers or grandparents to our classes!

Aim of Teggies Improv: Strengthen the bond between mothers and their babies through the joyful art of improvised comedy theatre! We would also like to form friendships and a support network between mothers in the local and nearby areas.

Class Structure

Classes run over 8 weeks, once a week, 1-2 hours per session.

> 2 x Taster Sessions

> 6 x Classes (Drop in style, themed)

Where does it run? Our classes currently run at the Ratby Village Hall, Leicestershire, LE60LN.

What is the cost? The class is free for mothers and babies, provided that community funding is secured. Otherwise, a pay what you can scheme is the default pricing system. Donations are welcome, but not compulsory, to help support future classes and resources.

Funding

The spring classes coming up in March 2026 have been funded by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, in collaboration with The Voluntary and Community Sector (Community Volunteer Fund Grant Scheme).

What happens in a class? We play improv games to create characters and stories together. Some examples may include mirroring games, one word at a time stories, miming and giving gifts, creating human statues and music boxes, scene games like translator, where babies are experts in a field like astrophysics and a mummy translates, plus much more!

Who runs the class? Anamaria Weston is the chair of Teggies Improv Community Group and usually runs the classes. As the group evolves, other trained and DBS checked teachers may become available. You can find out about Anamaria’s storytelling and improv experience on the linked page.
